As the sun begun to set today, I caught a glimpse of this rainbow and the grey skies above it. The scene reminded me of the many Good Fridays I’ve experienced in this lifetime; moments when I was deeply disappointed with God. But today, when I look back on each one of those Good Fridays, my heart finds strength in remembering the most important lesson I’ve learned — that the only way to make it through Good Friday and Easter Sunday is to believe that we are never left alone, and to surrender completely to His will.
There is no other way. For it is in surrendering, difficult as it often is, that the peace which passes all understanding enfolds us.
Though everything may seem dark for a while, if you look hard enough, even if it seems so far away, there is always a glimpse of a rainbow. For He promised us in Genesis 9:16 that “Whenever the rainbow appears in the clouds, I will see it and remember the everlasting covenant between God and all living creatures of every kind on the earth.”
It is in the waiting between our Good Fridays and Easter Sundays where Jesus is closest to us, and when we learn to trust His heart the most.
