I’m learning now to find the humor in my conversations with mom. Mom was one of those rare actresses who could straddle both worlds — comedy and drama. And not because she is my mother, but well, she was damn good at her craft! She could always make you cry buckets, or make you laugh so hard, you would tear up. This afternoon, we were talking about my upcoming birthday…
Me: 56 na ako sa birthday ko.
Mom: Ha? Ang tanda mo na!
Me: Eh kayo, 87 na nga.
Mom: Ah hindi naman masyadong matanda. Pero pag tinanong nila ako, “Tita, Ilang taon ka na?” I will tell them, “56 lang ako!”
Me: Hindi puede, ako yung 56 eh. Paano iyon?
Mom: Ok Sabihin ko 66.
Me: Paano iyon? Ten years pa lang pinanganak niyo na ako.
Mom : Ah basta, magulo ka. 66 lang ako. 🥰
